About Slave Zero, It is 500 years in the future. Man and machine are virtually one. And the greatest megacity in theworld is locked in a brutal war. You are the ultimate saboteur and part of an elite fighting force. Today I got to review Slave Zero, by Infogrames. The install went off without a hitch, even though I found the constant sounds scrolling through the menu quite annoying. The video and controlswere easy to setup and I was playing in a matter of minutes. At first glance, I was reminded of Shogo: Mobile Armored Division. Great visuals, good sounds, and that anime style of look. I love anime, so it kept my interest. The graphics were very smooth considering all of the bullets, missiles, projectiles, and pieces form the exploding objects. The Ecstasy Engine(tm) has proven itself, inmy book. Slave Zero ran super smooth at 16bit color on 800x600. Although it did suffer a few frame rate hits at 1024x768, it did not affect game play and is almost not worth mentioning. Overall, the game was fun. If you like anime, 1st or 3rd person shooters and futuristic robot type games, you may want to consider this one. I liked the fact that I could destroy any moving thing in the game, including innocent bystanders. I noticed buildings can able to be shot up into a large explosion, which can be used to your advantage if you spot a group of enemies next to one. Instead of shooting the bad guys, exploding a building seemed to take down a few more then my missile would. In my opinion, it could have used a few more goodies, like more weapons, maybe a super jump, jet pack or something to set it aside from the rest. Being an on-line gaming junkie, I was disappointed I couldn't go find a server to go jump on and challenge my skills against others. Even though there is a patch available for multi-player, it only supports 4 players connect through a LAN. The good thing is, if you want to hook it up with your friends or co-workers, you have an additional 12 multi-player |
