About Serious Sam - Second Encounter, When Serious Sam was released as a bargain bin title (meaning it costs half the price as most commercial titles), I couldn't believe the deal smart shoppers finally were able to take advantage of. Serious Sam easily surpassed the lot of first-person shooters in terms of visual appeal, and underneaththe pretty dressing was gameplay that we all yearned for. Since Doom and Quake, we haven't been able to fight hordes and hordes of enemies at once; they had been seemingly replaced with handfuls of intelligent enemies. Then, and now with the sequel, all out firepower is back in town. And the beautythat captivated owners of the original title is back tenfold. The robust engine has more tweaks than any game fan could hope for, allowing smooth gameplay on a variety of systems. Sound consisting ofthumping bass beats and wise-ass remarks are back as well. The multi-player mode, even allowing forcooperative play, is found in both the full version and the demo -- another reason for a download.Now while action is what you will find an abundance of, there is a good storyline to back it up. Through the use of a computer implanted in Sam's head, you will receive information on each new area, artifact, weapon and enemy. The information will be vital to keep you involved in all the puzzle solving. Don't worry though -- this isn't Tomb Raider. Most of your time will be spent hitting switchesand triggering unique locks. |
